Hello. I'm Nakamura from YN2-TECH. Today, I am pleased to announce the second part of the "Challenge without limit! Young top managements in 30’s gather for a round-table talk in search of new company management style"
- What is your view on Japanese society in Thailand as a business owner ?
Yamashita : I feel that the boundaries between staff assigned from Japan and staff hired locally have changed from a past. In the future, I think there will be more tendency for people starting from local hiring and then switched to headquarter hiring, or starting an own business like us. The boundaries gradually disappear, and in a sense, I think the Japanese society will become more active.
Nakamura : Certainly. I think there will be more choices. Further, many of the locally hired people are Thai-lovers who have connections with Thai people, Thai language skills, and relationships of trust with Thai society. Those are their strength. As a business owner, we hire Japanese staff locally and work together. From now on, it is important to take away the barriers between staff assigned from Japan and staff hired locally, and entrust task to those who can really get work done in Thailand. แท้จริงครับ
- What you do to increase the motivation of Thai staff ?
Miyamoto : As our office is a house with a kitchen, where at lunch time, Thai staff cooks and everyone eats lunch together. We value a family-like atmosphere. Our staff number is about 20 so that we can work while looking at each other, which I utilize the merit of that size to communicate closely and try to make comfortable place to work for a long time.
Nakamura : I also think about how to make employees feel more comfortable. I believe that is the same for Japanese people. I think that employment will last longer if the position is recognized and the environment where people can work with pride is established. Yamashita-san, I think your business involves working with many partner companies other than your own employees. How do you cope with motivating Thai partner companies ?
Yamashita : Since we have different subcontractors for each work, we try to convey our customers' voices. Such as "The customers were very satisfied," or "This part was praised." By creating an atmosphere where we're all working together, their feeling toward the work would be different.
Nakamura : You both communicate in a way that suits your personality. If you're doing something that doesn't suit your character, you'll get overwhelmed and exhausted. In that respect, Yamashita-san is the kind of person who listens to employees generously, and that matches his style. Miyamoto-san is a caring person, so it is appropriate to do family-like ways. I think it's wonderful that your personality and ways of giving motivation are in the same direction.
Inagaki : In my case, if we had some free time, we would go bowling together, or if we could afford the day's work, we would have a barbecue in the afternoon. I don't know how much of these are leading to motivation, but I try to communicate with everyone.
Nakamura : I think it's always important to stimulate Thai employees so they don't get tired of the company. That stimulus also leads to a desire to grow.
Nakamura : We are looking for more members. For those who want to start new manufacturing or business and create new services. The field of business does not matter at all. I would like to make this YNII Cafe a "business laboratory" to incubate and develop ideas, and do various things together. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us.
