Following the Vol.1 of this report on an online project for equipment relocation , in the Vol.2, we interviewed President Nakamura of YN2-TECH (THAILAND) CO., LTD. (hereinafter YN2) about the future of overseas business.
He says that through this online project under the corona pandemic, it has become clear what the company needs to strengthen and where it should be positioned in the future.
YN2 Nakamura (honorifics omitted): Online production start-up support was a very important tool in this project, but that was only as a result. The basic premise of this project was that it would not have been possible without connections between people. This project was accomplished because of the relationship of trust between Mr. Nishimura of Cosmo Instruments and myself Nakamura, between Mr. Nishimura and the on-site staff at Cosmo India, and between our YN2 staff and the engineers at Cosmo India. Especially in projects between overseas corporations, if all these pieces do not fit together, even the slightest discrepancy can become significant and result in inconvenience to the client. In that sense, this project with Cosmo India reminded us of the importance of "relationship of trust between people."
Online support is just a sub "tool".
Physical relationship building is the first as the base.
Nakamura: I always try to consider how to show sincerity to different people. The points that please each person are different, and whether or not we can find a clue to new business depends on the determination of these points. First of all, we need to gain their trust and establish a track record. YN2's style is to have people who have established a relationship of trust with us introduce us to people they trust. Many staff members, including employees, are keenly aware of the importance of expanding the circle of people in a Straw Millionaire* style.
*A classical Japanese fairy tales; that a poor man, out of kind heart, gives out a straw and receives a gift back – after his several kind act to help people, he ends up with a fortune.
After the online project with Cosmo Instruments, Mr. Nakamura says he once again felt the importance of building true human relationships in business.
Nakamura: Through this project, I was able to better understand the advantages of online tools and the limit lines that can be utilized. By deepening our understanding of the strengths of both online and physical tools and the correct usage of each, we now have a clearer picture of what we need to do in the future.
Although YN2 has an office in Thailand, it is not a manufacturer that makes things at the factory. In order to make the most of its strengths as a fabless company, it has established a CS (Customer Satisfaction) unit and is in the process of strengthening its human resources with maximum effort to great acclaim. As we are approaching the post-pandemic era, we expect that there will be an increase in demand for on-site (overseas) field engineering after exchanging information online in advance.
Nakamura: It was a good opportunity for us to think about how we should meet the needs of our customers in the future. Since demand is fluid depending on timing and conditions, flexibility is important. We have decided to strengthen our CS team so that each and every employee can provide sales and services that match the times, situations, and trends. Our core value is "people," after all.
I believe that if the range of needs that can be met is broadened by training the comprehensive human power of the company, business opportunities will naturally expand.
The company is currently working on projects with overseas companies in Malaysia, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa, India, China, and Japan simultaneously. Under the motto of "three-way cooperation” among customers, trading companies, and suppliers (manufacturers), the company is vigorously exploring new areas of business. The company's momentum will continue to grow as it transcends national borders and time zones, leveraging its comprehensive human powers.
