The “SURFCOM NEX 200”, a surface roughness and contour shape measuring machine developed by Tokyo Seimitsu, is a hybrid and multi-measuring instrument capable of measuring both surface roughness and contour shape simultaneously. This article highlights the features of this product, which promotes automation and labor-saving, significantly boosting work productivity.
In conventional measuring instruments, it was common to use separate devices for surface roughness and contour shape measurements. Even with devices capable of measuring both, probe replacement or angle adjustments were often necessary.
However, with the SURFCOM NEX 200, these measurements (surface roughness, R/dimension measurements, etc.) can be completed in single trace with one probe. This significantly reduces the time spent on probe changes and workpiece alignment (adjusting part orientation). At manufacturing sites, it minimizes the effort required to switch between detectors and enables quick inspections. Additionally, with CNC programming, the operator simply sets the part, presses the start button, and the system automatically handles everything from measurement to analysis.
Equipped with a newly developed wide-range hybrid detector, the automatic programming function simplifies the conventional four-step measurement process into a single step. Measurement results for each process can be easily viewed on the LCD screen, reducing manual errors and ensuring accurate measurements that do not rely on the operator's level of expertise.
The SURFCOM utilizes a high-speed linear motor drive to achieve high-precision measurements while minimizing vibration noise through an ultra-low vibration drive mechanism. Additionally, the new range hybrid detector expands the Z-axis measurement range to 13 mm, which is 2.6 times greater than that of conventional models, accommodating measurements up to 52 mm. It also effectively handles temperature variations, with accuracy guaranteed within a wide range of 20°C ± 5°C, ensuring stable measurements even in environments where temperature management is challenging.
It features a linear motor drive on the X-axis and a newly developed oil-free sliding material for the Z-axis column, along with a special coating, reducing the need for routine maintenance and ensuring stable performance over an extended period.
