AMG Co., Ltd., located in Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan, manufactures precision mold/die parts and precision plastic molds/dies, sells precision parts, and manufactures and sells precision plastic parts. With Mold/die and precision plastic parts with craftsmanship, they support precise and high-quality “manufacturing” of Made-in-Japan.
The company expanded into Thailand in 2018, established AMG (THAILAND) CO., LTD. and manufactures precision mold/die parts used in Japan in Thailand.
AMG Thailand's Hidemichi Araie is one of Japan's top precision mold/die designers. In addition, Kenji Yamada of the company is a leading expert in electrode design and manufacturing for die-milling electric discharge machining.
The CAD/CAM software used by the two design and processing masters when designing and manufacturing an ultra-precision mold/die with the precision of a micron unit in Japan are called "CG MOLD DESIGN" (hereafter CGMD), "EXCESS-HYBRID II "(hereinafter EH II) and "CAM-TOOL"(hereinafter CT) by CGS.
▲Electrodes for electric discharge machining of various shapes
▲Electrodes designed using EXCESS-HYBRID II
▲AMG's technology that can make mold/die parts with the precision of 1 micron is rare in Thailand.
3 lineups of CGS’s CAD/CAM software
① 3D CAD system "CG MOLD DESIGN" for SOLIDWORKS for mold die design
A CAD system specializing in mold die design that is added to SOLIDWORKS®, which is used by more than 2 million operators all over the world. Equipped with 3D standard parts such as MISUMI and FUTABA and mold base data as standard. Also user-customized parts and assembly data can be added to the database.
② 2D/3D hybrid CAD/CAM system "EXCESS-HYBRID II" for resin/press mold/die design and processing
A hybrid CAD system that can display and handle 2D drawings and 3D models to be superimposed in the same system and is effective in mold/die design and processing that involves trials and errors. We also have a CAM that can create 2D drawings and 3D models, from holes/pockets to 3D shapes, and wire-cut processing data.
▲EXCESS-HYBRID II's unique hybrid design environment (2D drawings and 3D models can be superimposed and designed)
③ 3D CAD/CAM system "CAM-TOOL" for high-precision machining of resins, castings, and other molds/dies
A high-precision CAM system that reduces the tool load and realizes smooth processing operations and high-precision surface quality by using the unique calculation logic "Surface calculation" that faithfully contacts the tools along the curved surface shape. Also equipped with original modeling CAD for CAM, which was conceived from the viewpoint of mold/die making.

Mr. Yamada talks about the 3 advantages of
the CAD/CAM system "EXCESS-HYBRID II" and
"CAM-TOOL" that are indispensable for manufacturing mold/die parts with a micron accuracy
Advantages (1): Design in hybrid environments such as 2D drawings⇒3D modeling, 3D models⇒2D drawings on the same screen
Since the precision required for each element in mold/die parts processing is different, it is necessary to instruct not only by the 3D model but also the 2D drawing.
EXCESS-HYBRID II has all the functions necessary for design, such as drawings specialized for molds/dies and solid & surface modeling, so intended electrode drawings and models can be created efficiently by superimposing them freely on the same screen.
▲EXCESS-HYBRID II performs hybrid design by arranging 2D drawings and 3D models required for processing instructions.
Advantage (2): Processing program can be created freely for 2D drawings and 3D models
By properly using CAM according to the processing shape and precision, work can be shared and processing programs can be created efficiently. The 3D electrode model modeled with EHII can be exchanged in a CT-specialized format, taking advantage of the benefit of being the same developer.
◆EXCESS-HYBRID II
2D drawing creation, 3D modeling, hole/pocket/2.5D machining program creation
◆CAM-TOOL
Creating a micron-precision 3D machining program from a 3D model
▲Mr. Yamada creates a micron-precision 3D electrode machining program with CAM-TOOL and confirms the tool trajectory.
▲A machining engineer who creates a machining program based on 2D electrode drawings designed by EXCESS-HYBRID II
Advantage (3): Extensive after-sales service
CGS ASIA signs a maintenance contract with the companies that installed the product, and improves the CAD/CAM function to reflect the demands of the production site by supporting the product version upgrade once a year.
In addition to telephone, e-mail, and regular on-site support, the company also accommodates remote support via remote PC connection, and provides extensive after-sales service, such as in-house verification to solve technical issues in cooperation with the company's Japanese headquarters to find the optimal solution.
Two Japanese engineers in charge of designing and processing are stationed at the Bangkok office, and with the cooperation of machine tools, cutting tools, holders, and other production goods manufacturers, we also produce cutting samples, providing processing know-how and responding quickly to user’s problem solving.
AMG Thailand is currently processing mold/die parts ordered from Japan in Thailand, where the total cost is low, but in the future, we would like to expand our business partners here and perform everything from mold/die designing to mold/die manufacturing in Thailand.
The trust placed in CGS ASIA by designing masters is very high.
