On January 29, 2025, CGS ASIA CO., LTD. and Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a technical partnership on the CAD/CAM system "CAM-TOOL". Both parties have agreed to collaborate on education through this technical partnership, utilizing the CAD/CAM system "CAM-TOOL" to enhance practical learning that aligns with the needs of the industrial and manufacturing sectors.
This MOU signing marks a significant first step in establishing a cooperative relationship between the company and the university, particularly in providing internship opportunities for students.
Established in 2007 by the Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan), Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology was founded by former exchange students who had studied in Japan. The university aims to contribute to society by equipping students with a wide range of technical skills. As part of its policy, all students are required to study Japanese to better prepare for the labor market. By fostering the next generation with Japanese principles and cultural understanding, the institute plays a key role in advancing Thailand’s industrial development.
At its establishment, the university had only three departments: Engineering, Information Science, and Business Administration. However, with the addition of the Thai-Nichi International College, the Department of Global Communication, and the Department of Digital Technology, it has expanded to a total of six departments. Additionally, the university offers master's degree programs and accepts graduates from technical colleges for transfer into its bachelor's degree programs.
Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology was established with support from various Japanese organizations, including the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Additionally, many Japanese companies contribute to the university through scholarship programs and other forms of cooperation. Building on this strong foundation, the university continues to send interns to various Japanese companies and organizations. Currently, it has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with over 80 Japanese universities and 30 Japanese companies, receiving donations and educational materials from these institutions.
In the manufacturing industry, producing high-quality products at low cost and on time is crucial. Engineers play a key role in achieving these goals.。
Through this MOU, the CAD/CAM software CAM-TOOL has been donated to Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology, allowing students to freely use the software in their lectures. Training on the system has now been incorporated into the engineering department’s curriculum. Since CAM-TOOL is widely adopted at manufacturing sites in both Japan and Thailand, it is expected that students will be able to immediately apply their knowledge and experience in practical work upon graduation by learning how to use the system during their university studies.
Students at the Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology are deepening their knowledge of manufacturing through hands-on experience. There is no doubt that they are contributing to the development of skilled engineers who will play a key role in supporting the future of Thailand's manufacturing industry.
