As a manufacturer of vibration test equipment, Thai EMIC provides contract testing services and sales of test equipment in Thailand and the ASEAN region. We also focus on maintenance, inspection, and calibration services to be “quality partner for customers.” In this first installment of our series to introduce points on the proper use of vibration test equipment, we will discuss on the daily management of bolts and tightening torque.
When securing a jig to a vibration generator or securing a test piece to a jig, bolts (screws) are used, and the daily management of these bolts greatly affects the workability.
When we visit our customers' sites, we often encounter rusted bolts that have not been adequately maintained are being used.
The following are specific check points to ensure that proper bolts are used. It is recommended that the person in charge make a habit of checking them on a daily basis as a checklist.
When securing jigs and test pieces with bolts, the tightening torque of the bolts is very important. If the tightening torque is not properly used at the correct specified value, the test results will be greatly affected. If the torque is weaker than the specified value, the jig or test piece will not be secured properly, resulting in rattling or unexpected resonance. Conversely, if the torque is stronger than the specified value, the bolt will break or the jig or test piece will be damaged.
