The other day, a customer consulted with us.
The customer's issue was that "good result data cannot be obtained in the vibration testing".
We listened to what they had to say and gave them various advice to find the cause, but the result data did not improve at all. We then asked to see the jigs they were using.
Then, it turned out that the company was conducting the vibration testing using jigs that they had made themselves.
Depending on the rigidity and strength of the metal, the jig itself may rattle and vibrate, rather than yielding the vibration value of the product (test piece) alone, resulting in the inability to obtain good data.
The jig itself was the cause of the inability to obtain solid vibration data. In Thailand and the ASEAN region, in addition to the above examples, there are many problems caused by the lack of using proper jigs. Since a single jig is not cheap, ranging from several hundred thousand to one million yen, many companies do so to save costs. However, even a mere jig, it cannot measure the correct vibration of a product unless it is correctly designed and manufactured with strength calculations that assume such as "deflection" and "twisting.
The important functions of a jig are "fixation of the test piece" and "vibration transmission," with "vibration transmission" in particular being extremely important.
If vibration cannot be correctly transmitted to the test piece, the intended test cannot be conducted and good data cannot be obtained.
Therefore, the technical design of the jig on which the test object is mounted is essential in vibration testing.
There are as many jigs as there are test items, depending on the size and mass of the product (test piece) and the vibration conditions.
