Thai Hibex has a proven track record of proposing equipment and solutions that contribute to manufacturing automation, and is particularly good at automating processes such as “screw tightening”, “coating”, “soldering”, and “substrate partitioning”. Among all, it actively recommends Japan Unix’s soldering robots as a solution for soldering processes. In this article, together with Mr. Ojima of Japan Unix, we will introduce the company's product features and strengths.
Founded in 1974 as Japan's first manufacturer specializing in soldering robots, Japan Unix is a long-established soldering solution company representing Japan that will celebrate its 50th anniversary in April 2023.
In the “soldering” industry, where not only product quality and functionality, but also processing processes and know-how are important, Japan Unix stands apart from its competitors in its ability to provide reproducible solutions based on data and know-how gained from over 50 years of experience, and to propose products and solutions best suited to customer requirements.
Especially in Thailand, desk-top robots are popular because they are ideal for automating manual soldering in the post-attachment processes.

Automation of soldering is most effective in stabilizing quality. By connecting the monitoring software (Soldering Manager) exclusively for the DF series, various soldering processes, such as soldering temperature and whether the program is executed or not, can be visualized and converted into data.
“By recording video and data during soldering, we can achieve a higher level of process control. The recorded data can be remotely managed by Japan Unix, so it can be utilized for cause analysis of any problems that may occur, leading to faster support. Problems associated with soldering are often difficult to analyze just by looking at defective products, so analysis including the processing process is necessary. The Soldering Manager also supports serial management by reading 2D codes. Combined with the recording function, it can support enhanced traceability," says Mr. Ojima of Japan Unix.
The solution that we would like to recommend globally, including Thailand next, is "laser soldering."
Non-contact soldering allows for easier temperature control as well as:
・Stability of quality
・Good mass production rate
・Easy to approach extremely small parts
and etc. It is highly effective in improving soldering quality.
As with the soldering robot, we have also developed dedicated software (Soldering Manager) that realizes traceability.
“Hibex Group has a strong network in Southeast Asia, and Japanese staff are stationed in Thailand, so they are the distributor we trust for both sales and after-sales service.
Thailand is an area that is attracting attention as a manufacturing base for EVs. We have heard that many manufacturers consider manual soldering not acceptable for in-vehicle components on electronic circuit boards, which require safety quality. In that respect, we have high expectations for the future expansion of demand for automatic soldering in Thailand.
One of the features of our product development is to reflect customer requirements. We will continue our strong collaboration with Thai Hibex to provide solutions that will meet the demands of our customers not only in Japan but also in Southeast Asia," comments Mr. Ojima of Japan Unix.
