Indispensable in the manufacturing process of precision machined parts of Kyowa NT (Thailand) are industrial brushes, which are used in a variety of situations, such as deburring parts and workpiece cleaning processes.
“The burrs generated on parts with complex structures cannot be completely removed by general-purpose brushes alone," says Toshiharu Nakane, president of State Industries (Thailand), which supplies Kyowa NT with custom-made brushes.
We interviewed Mr. Nakane, President of State Industries (Thailand) who visited the Kyowa NT (Thailand) factory in Ayutthaya, together with Mr. Morozumi, President of Kyowa NT (Thailand),
- State Industries is a leading brush manufacturer in Japan and its industrial brushes are used in all fields. What sort of lineup do you have?
President Nakane: State Industry was founded in 1970 and expanded into Thailand in 2010, establishing STATE INDUSTRY (THAILAND) CO.,LTD.
Since our founding in Japan, we have been manufacturing and selling brushes for various applications, and our main product, industrial brushes, have become indispensable tools in the deburring and cleaning processes of metalworking parts for automobiles and electronic devices.
There are many types of industrial brushes, such as cup brushes for deburring, surface polishing, washing, cleaning, and polishing; roll brushes for washing steel plates and glass and cleaning conveyor belt surfaces; twisted brushes for deburring, polishing, washing, and cleaning the inner surfaces and intersections of small-diameter holes, and others. The most distinctive feature of our industrial brushes is the custom-made products that are made according to the customer's application
President Nakane: :As with the brushes we deliver to Kyowa NT (Thailand), 99% of our brushes are custom-made, designed and manufactured to the specifications of the equipment, processes, and part shapes used by our customers.
- Speaking of brushes, there are many types of brushes on the market, including those made in China, but what makes them different from other companies' products?
President Nakane:For State Industries' brushes, we start by interviewing the customer, then propose, design, produce a prototype, and conduct trials for brushes with specifications that suit the application, and deliver products with the best results that customers are satisfied with.
In terms of specifications, we propose specifications that reduce costs as much as possible, in order for the products to be purchased on an ongoing basis as consumable.
Brushes are made of a variety of materials, including general chemical fibers such as nylon and polyester, those with abrasive particles such as diamond or silicon carbide particles, and metal wire brushes made of stainless steel or copper wire, etc. As with brush shapes, we propose usage conditions and design brushes according to customer applications.
President Morozumi:State Industries' brushes used in our equipment hold up better and remove burrs better than other companies' products. When we talk to President Nakane about the purpose of use, he makes what we are looking for precisely.
We do deburring in our automated machine line, and if we do not remove the burr completely, it will be a big problem. In that aspect, the brushes made in Thailand by the experienced State Industry (Thailand) can be used with peace of mind.
- We understand that State Industries (Thailand) is developing a replaceable type of brush.
President Nakane:Brushes are consumables, so they are basically disposable. However, if the worn bristles can be replaced cartridge style, that can avoid wasting resources and the manufacturing cost can also be reduced.
President Morozumi:If the unit cost of brushes goes down, it will naturally be reflected in the manufacturing cost of our products. Besides, if it becomes a cartridge style, it seems that the trouble of replacement can be saved.
I would like to thank State Industries and President Nakane for their continued support in the production of brushes for our use.
