We would ask Mr. Hayashi at Material Automation (Thailand) regarding the approaching of IoT. Could you explain this to us?
Mr. Yasuhiko Hayashi / Senior Manager
Digital Engineering Sales Department
Mr. Hayashi:
We have been providing IoT system development services using PTC's ThingWorx in Thailand for three years.
Up until now, we have delivered the systems to industries such as automobile parts, foods, schools, electronic parts, and electric power plants. The installation area extends to various places such as Bangkok, Bangna, Bang Phli, and Rayong.
Editor:
This time, we shot an introduction video of the case study, but why did you choose LOMA by Mr. Thai Takasago (hereinafter referred to as TT) this time?
Mr. Hayashi:
Most of our customers are in the manufacturing industry and usually acquire operation information of machines.
In the case of TT, not only the machine data but also the air flow is basically monitored. This company is taking care of a special air conditioning system that has been operating in Thailand for 35 years and in Japan for over 100 years. However, my first impression was that monitoring temperature and humidity would just be a simple system.
Seeing the system that it delivered to TT's R & D center, my idea has been changed a lot. This is because the large rooms separated in the factory were kept at a comfortable temperature with only a very small air conditioner. If I thought about selling this air-conditioning system myself and suddenly visited a customer and said, "I can significantly reduce electricity bill," I couldn't believe it.I can't see the air or the wind.
However, using LOMA, which we were in charge of development, we can easily see the operating status of the air conditioner and the temperature changes in each part of the room. In other words, the air flow can be visualized (proven) with data. "Visualization" is used in the IT industry, but it has been used for many years and I myself felt something like obsolescence of words, but with this system, "visualization" is what it is. I think I was able to reconfirm.
At TT, this system, which we helped develop, is sold in the Thailand market under the name "LOMA".
We help customers in various fields such as food, electronic parts, energy, etc. Those companies use special air conditioning such as dry rooms and clean rooms, and know that air conditioning management using IoT is related to the quality of the product itself. I was able to feel it and take pride in our work.

Editor:
By the way, you said that you are dealing with a solution called ThingWorx from PTC, but what about other IoT solutions?
Mr. Hayashi:
ThingWorx is a bit advanced solution for the clients. We are currently considering a solution that can be used on a smaller scale.
Editor:
Are there any other systems which make use of IoT technologies?
Mr. Hayashi:
The basic technology of IoT is consist of components such as sensors and networks that capture information, clouds that build systems on the Internet, and dashboards that display and analyze information.
For example, by combining a dashboard with an accounting system, you can display expenses, sales amount, profits, etc. by department, and by linking with a production control system. You can also display changes in production information such as preliminary production numbers, cumulative production for the current month, and comparison with forecasts and actuals in real time.
Editor:
I see, IoT technology is widely used. Thank you for taking the time to interview.
