Murata (Thailand) (hereinafter referred to as Muratec), was established in Thailand in 1989 and has been providing services to the neighboring countries of ASEAN with focus on the three main businesses of "machine tools (lathes and sheet metal)," "logistics systems," and "textile machinery". Despite the Corona pandemic, we are striving to provide better services to the ASEAN market by promoting proactive strategies such as showroom renewal and office relocation. In this article, we would like to introduce our strengths and future prospects.
We want to provide services close to our customers A new showroom that can handle demonstration processing and spot sales
The newly established showroom has two main roles.
・Demonstration of machine tools for spot sales.
・Training facility for engineers in Thailand and ASEAN countries
We decided to relocate to the Bang Na area, where many of our customers are located, with the thought of “we want to be as close to our customers as possible and respond quickly to their needs”.
The main equipment on display and the lineup of machines in stock are as follows
■Twin spindle CNC lathe MW120EX
■ CNC servo motor type turret punch press M2048T
■Press brake BB/BH series▲From left to right: BB4013, BH13530
We perform machining demonstrations using actual workpieces as well as sell machines on the spot if conditions are met.
*Inventory availability varies depending on the time of the year. Please inquire in advance.
■ Automated warehouse system (AS/RS)
▲Automated warehouses are used to store paid and free parts for customers
Focusing on training local engineers to improve the quality of after-sales service that can be completed in Thailand
"Engineering" is an important aspect common to all of Muratec's businesses.
Since our products and equipment are manufactured in Japan, we believe that the quality of our local after-sales service directly affects customer satisfaction. No matter how high-precision a machine is, breakdowns are bound to occur, including deterioration over time. It is important how we can eliminate downtime and not affect the customer's production operations.
Currently, we have about 70 employees. More than half of them are engineers. In the machine tool division, in particular, we often handle customized projects that incorporate automation, which requires a high level of engineering. In response to this, we focus on training local engineers.
Our basic style is that a Japanese manager is assigned to each team and provides on-the-job training to Thai staff.
In addition, we regularly conduct long-term training programs at our factories in Japan. As a result, we have a large number of local staff with advanced engineering skills of the same quality as in Japan.
We are focusing on human resource development with a view to Thailand becoming an ASEAN hub in the future.
Proposing total solutions combining machine tools and automated warehouses Muratec as a system provider
Like Japan, Thailand is experiencing a rapidly aging society with a declining birthrate. We assume that the demand for automation will further increase as it is becoming more difficult to secure manpower, which has been dependent on foreign workers, due in part to the impact of the pandemic. In fact, we have been receiving an increasing number of firm inquiries over the past few years.
We intend to continue to increase our track record and refine our expertise in automation customization, which is one of our areas of expertise.
Another of our strengths is our ability to provide solutions in collaboration with other divisions. We have an increasing track record of installing Murata machine tools and automated warehouses in the same factory. Our ability to furnish total coordination, including machinery, systems, and peripheral equipment, enables us to closely exchange information with our customers and provide prompt after-sales service.
