It has been confirmed that a new industrial robot model will be released by NACHI TECHNOLOGY THAILAND (subsidiary of Fujikoshi, Japan). Its robot is highly popular because it offers one of the world’s fastest operating performance, is lightweight and compact. This is the industrial robot “MZ series”. We are at Nachi Technical Center, and fortunately, I am able to talk to the Vice President, Mr. Akira Takarajima.
Samurai Factory (Less than Samurai): Thank you for your time today.
I heard that a new NACHI industrial robot will be released soon.
Mr.Takarajima:Yes. We will release the new industrial robot "CZ series". Unfortunately, we have not prepared one of the actual machines, but one can find all details from this article.
Samurai:Despite a sudden interview request, thank you again. I have seen the picture of the new model robot. What are the main features for these industrial robots?
Mr.Takarajima:This "CZ series" was developed with the concept of "human cooperative robot". Industrial robots, such as collaborative robots, normally require the installation of safety fences to ensure worker safety. However, it is not the case for "CZ series".
Samurai:Is a safety fence unnecessary? What kind of mechanism does it have, then?
Mr.Takarajima:The "CZ series" has a function that the robot detects and stops contact with people. That is not all. The biggest feature is that we have the "pinch prevention structure" that we have developed for the first time in the world. Specifically, a gap of 25 mm or more is secured between the robot arm and the joint. It is designed to prevent fingers and clothing from entering the gap. In addition, in preparation for any emergency, we are clearing intrinsic safety such as suppressing the output of the motor. Furthermore, ISO 10218-1 (Safety ISO) certification, an international standard, has also been acquired.
Samurai: I see. It is a perfect safety measure.
Mr.Takarajima:In addition, a direct programing (direct program) function which records the positions by directly moving the robot’s main body and arm is enabled, so, even a person unfamiliar with the robot operation can intuitively generate the robot’s movement.
Samurai:It seems that we can expect some things that have never existed in industrial robots before.
Mr.Takarajima:If you may, you can imagine that we are getting closer to the point where you are working with a robot in a similar way to with another human being, with abilities such as touching the robot to stop moving the robot and remembering work movement by direct programing.
Samurai:Indeed, it is a robot that works while "harmonizing with humans"! It embodies the concept "human cooperative robot". I cannot wait to see this robot in action. When will the "CZ series" be released?
Mr.Takarajima:We are planning to release it worldwide at the end of July this year. It will also be exhibited at Manufacturing Expo 2018 in the Assembly & Automation Technology 2018 section from June 20-23 this year. After that, we will exhibit this robot at the Nachi technical center. So, I think that you should come and check out the actual machine.
Samurai:I look forward to it. I will put it on my calendar and will be bothering you again soon. Thank you very much for your kind attention, Mr. Takeshima.
