Nippon Oil Pump Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as NOP) is an industrial pump manufacturer that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019.
Among various types of pumps, including hydraulic, combustion, and water pumps, NOP holds a dominant 70% market share in “trochoid pumps” within Japan. Furthermore, NOP's trochoid pumps have been widely used by customers in Southeast Asia for many years. Recently, NOP has expanded its offerings beyond pumps by introducing innovative coolant tank solutions, such as pumps with integrated cyclone filters and maintenance-free coolant tanks equipped with chip conveyors.
In March 2024, NOP opened a representative office in the Sukhumvit-Thonglor area of Bangkok. This office collects market insights and user feedback from Southeast Asia (including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore) to aid in developing new products and establishing enhanced service frameworks.
A trochoid pump is a device that transports oil using an internally meshing gear system, where an outer gear and an inner gear engage and rotate. The pump utilizes a trochoid curve, created by an inner gear with one less tooth than the outer gear. As the gears rotate, the small spaces between them change in volume, allowing the pump to draw in and discharge oil.
The trochoid pump is known for it’s compact size, low noise, and stable oil flow. It plays a vital role in various industries, including machine tools, industrial equipment, ships, and wind power generation gearboxes (speed increasers) .
NOP is the company that applied the trochoid structure to pumps. The key strengths of NOP's trochoid pumps lie in the precise design of the trochoid structure, achieved through advanced technology, and their exceptionally long lifespan. In many cases, they have been used for decades without failure.NOP's trochoid pumps are standard equipment in machine tools from numerous major Japanese manufacturers.
NOP has introduced a coolant unit for BT30 models their own pump cyclone filter pump with a chip conveyor.
In Southeast Asia, Suzuka IP (Thailand) Co., Ltd. released the "NOROSHI" coolant tank, designed and manufactured in Thailand, featuring a cyclone filter pump, in October 2024. The "NOROSHI" coolant tank unit, with a 240L tank capacity and a chip conveyor, removes large chips with the chip conveyor, while small micron-level chips are filtered out by the cyclone filter pump. This provides a space-saving and low-maintenance coolant solution.
NOP has many years of expertise in pumps.
In addition to selecting and recommending the most suitable pumps for various applications—such as high-pressure plunger pumps, medium-pressure trochoid pumps, and low-pressure, high-flow impeller pumps—it leverages its pump technology and experience to offer solutions for creating optimal factory environments. This includes the aforementioned coolant units and mist collectors, with more solutions to be proposed in the future.
Currently, NOP is focused on strengthening the engineers at its overseas local agents, primarily in Thailand and Southeast Asia. In addition to addressing chip-related issues in coolant tanks and reducing maintenance labor, the company offers value-added services, such as advising on the selection of pumps tailored to specific cutting tools.
