A new solution for non-contact measurement of body temperature and notifying of abnormalities with a network indicator light, for new Corona infection spread prevention measures in Thailand!

SAMURAI ASIA Editorial Department

The new coronavirus (COVID-19) finally looks like it is coming to an end in recent days in Thailand. However, the possibility of the arrival of a second wave has not disappeared, and many business operators are remaining vigilant. In addition to checking the body temperature of people entering and leaving the building, it is necessary to be very cautious when it comes to events where many people gather.

In response to this situation, three Japanese affiliated companies jointly developed a new automatic body temperature testing/notification system that was born in Thailand. It is expected to be a health and hygiene solution in a new era that delivers safety and security not only to business operators but also to all people.

PATLITE x DENSO x NATURE Joint development of an automatic temperature testing and notification system that instantly measure body temperature & notifies of abnormalities

The development was triggered by questions and consultations from business partners at “DENSO SALES (THAILAND)”. "Visitors to the building are subjected to face-to-face body temperature checks at the entrance, but isn't any interpersonal contact posing a risk of the infection itself?" 」 "We can't afford to put personnel at the entrance just to check people’s body temperatures."

The company, which also operates a security business, has called out to "NATURE Corporation (Thailand)", a manufacturer of industrial and security cameras and “PATLITE (THAILAND)”, a manufacturer with the latest technology for indicators and beacons, and started developing a new system. There were various challenges, but the three Japanese affiliated companies gathered their wisdom and overcame them. It took only two weeks from idea to development.

What is the "Automatic Temperature Testing and Notification System" that was born in Thailand?

The mechanism of the automatic temperature testing and notification system is very simple.

Automatic Temperature Testing and Notification System

Body temperature check
NATURE, also a camera trading company, prepared a thermal camera from “IDIS”, Korea's largest video surveillance camera manufacturer. The surface temperature of the human body is measured instantly from a distance of 1 to 3 meters, and it boasts an amazing accuracy of only ±0.3 degrees Celsius.

Immediately notify the abnormality
In case the obtained body temperature data shows result exceeding the threshold value, PATLITE made a network monitoring beacon (NH-FV type) that immediately notifies of the abnormality.

Simultaneously by light and sound, the visitor is informed to "Please wait without entering the facility" and management is notified to "Please check the entrance". By using the network, it is possible to notify the management of the state of abnormality speedily in real time even in remote locations, while minimizing face-to-face risk.

Features of the automatic temperature testing and notification system

■Multi-lingual support
The contents of the voice announcement can be switched by registering the MP3 file in advance. Multiple languages, such as Japanese, Thai, and English can be input.

■No software required / easy connection
There is no need for large-scale capital investment such as software development and system wiring. The thermal camera and beacon are incorporated with the necessary software already, so they can be used immediately after installation.

■Reduce infection risk and temperature test costs at the same time!
Non-contact temperature measurement with thermal cameras can reduce the risk of infection and save cost and the time of staffing. It is the greatest merit of introducing this system.

The three companies plan to expand the use of this new automatic temperature testing/notification system to production plants where many workers come and go, as well as commercial facilities such as regular offices and shopping malls, hospitals, schools, and other facilities.

The new coronavirus (COVID-19) threatens us by not only being an infectious disease itself, but also affecting economic activities and daily life in the future. Under such worrisome circumstances, the three companies carried out an idea and executed development quickly without hesitation. It is something worth keeping an eye out for their further activities.
