My name is Goto, and I have been assigned to the Thai corporation office since April 2021. Actually, this is my second assignment to Thailand. I used to be in charge of corporate sales in Thailand selling wire-cutting electric discharge machines for almost six years beginning in 2011. After that, I was transferred to Vietnam and continued there until I was recently transferred back here.
This time, I have been reassigned to the Thai corporation office as the head of sales. Taking this opportunity once again, I would like to share with you the strengths of Sodick (Thailand) and our vision for the future.
One of our strengths is that we are a company having a unified system of manufacturing and sales that integrates development, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service. The key to this is the following two in-house factories.
Factory No.1: Navanakorn
Established in Navanakorn Industrial Park in 1988, the factory was an export base at that time for countries doing business in the US dollar zone, but it has since grown into Sodick's main factory. It is shipping machinery to Japan, as well as to Europe, the United States, China, and other Asian countries. It is currently engaged in the manufacture of circuit boards, linear motors, sheet metal, ceramics, and various components, as well as the assembly, adjustment, and shipping of wire-cut / injection molding machines.
Factory No.2: Chumnumsap
Completed in 2013 after experiencing the 2011 flood, it was built in the Chumnumsap Industrial Park for risk hedge management (higher in elevation above sea level than Navanakorn) and to increase production. The factory is engaged in machining, wire harness production, carving electric discharge machine assembly, shipping, and others.
Approximately 50% of the products (including parts) sold by the entire Sodick Group are manufactured in Thai factories. These two factories are, so to speak, the central base for our global manufacturing. Because we develop, manufacture, and sell our products in-house, another point of our features is that feedback from sales staff is easily reflected on the site (factory), and the speed of improvement response is fast.
We have a great advantage of developing and manufacturing our own original technologies that other companies do not have, such as electrical discharge power supplies, ceramics, CNC, motion controllers, linear motors, and V-Line. Our electric discharge machines and machining centers are equipped with many of these technologies.
Wire-cut Electric Discharge Machine (EDW) AL Series
This series is equipped with the new function "iGroove" for wire cutting. It minimizes wire consumption as much as possible, reducing cost and improving accuracy.
3-axis Linear Motor Drive Machining Center TS50L
Despite the high added value of the linear motor drive, it demonstrates high cost-performance by realizing a low price. Ideal for high-precision electrode machining.
By experiencing life during Corona, online meetings have now become a common tool in business, but the manufacturing industry needs to have a coexistence of online and offline, such as direct visits to customers and continuous online information sharing. As customers themselves are beginning to move into the next generation, we feel the importance of both. We are aiming to create a system where Thai staff can take the lead in these activities.
Sodick will celebrate its 50th anniversary of the founding in 2026. It has set forth various visions under the slogan of "Next Stage 2026, " which includes IoT and AI. We have been developing our business under the name of "Sodick IoT" for some time, and we believe that high value-added machining proposals that make full use of IoT will become more and more necessary as the demand for automation increases in Thailand.
Next time, I will introduce the specific lineup of Sodick IoT.
