Our company, Sodick, has been providing software that can monitor the operating status of machines since about 20 years ago, and it is the foundation of the current business model [Sodick IoT]. Lately, the functions for various applications have been enhanced, and it is a field that can be said to be expanding.
In recent years, in addition to the issue of shortening lead times, there are no end to worries at manufacturing sites such as labor shortages and soaring labor costs. We presume that the situation is similar for many customers in Thailand.
Despite the trend towards automation and labor savings, one of the reasons why it has been difficult to introduce such systems to the production sites is that it is not easy to grasp the actual operating status.
Sodick IoT may be able to help solve these problems.
What the administrator wants to know most is the operating rate of the machine. Understanding the operating status is an important factor for considering capital investment and securing the workload. One of the Sodick IoT lineup, "S-Viewer" * realizes the visualization of machine operating rate.
*Previously known as "Miemmerce"
Main functions of S-Viewer
・ Understanding the current machine operating status
・ Understanding the operating status of each machine
・ Confirmation of machining history
・ Understanding the status of maintenance and consumables
・ Checking the machine status from outside the company
・ Output the operating results to the outside (CSV)
・ Checking the status of various sensors
Collect data from each machine (NC device) connected to the S-Viewer Server (Windows PC). Registered machines can be displayed as a list, and the operating status, machining time, machining rate, etc. of the machines are displayed by linking with the graphics of the NC device. It is also possible to inquire about the operating results of each machine. This kind of centralized management of machine operating status contributes to the improvement of machine operating rate.
Not only Sodick's machines, but also those of other companies can be linked utilizing [S-HARMNY], a machine management system based on the Sodick-IoT platform, to realize visualization of the entire manufacturing process.
The [SEIKAnet] function allows NC programs to be exchanged between machines and PCs or between machines. This system makes it possible to grasp machine information even at a distance from the machine and also to send commands. This allows the user to check the operating status of the machine and the usage time of consumables.
The operating results of each machine can be checked on the screen of the NC device.
* SPW power supply / SP power supply only
Furthermore, by using the [LQ Mail] function, error and stop information of the registered NC device can be forwarded by e-mail to check the operating status. This leads to prevention of unexpected process delays after vacations and realization of supports for efficient process monitoring.
By utilizing these Sodick IoT functions, machine failures can be predicted and troubles can be prevented, which will help minimize lost time at manufacturing sites. Reducing lost time is the basis of cost reduction, which directly leads to improved productivity. Going forward, we will continue to develop and manufacture machines that will please work sites by reflecting the opinions and requests of our customers in our products and technologies.
