TAKAMATSU MACHINERY(THAILAND)CO., LTD. exhibited this year at “METALEX” 2019, the largest exhibition for machine tools, etc. in Asia.
15 years have passed since TAKAMATSU MACHINERY (THAILAND) CO., LTD., the Thai corporation of the leading machine tool company, Takamatsu Machinery Co., Ltd. (Head office, Ishikawa) was born.
We have been exhibiting at "METALEX" held every year in Bangkok even before TAKAMATSU MACHINERY’s establishment. The space at the start was about a quarter of the current space. The exhibition place was also not the prominent main venue of the center where we are now exhibiting. It was a small joint booth that was some distance from the main venue.
METALEX has continued to expand remarkably in the last few years and is now completely different than previously. In the past, Japanese machine tool manufacturers did not exhibit often. It was a general exhibition style that local agents and Japanese trading companies opened booths, and the Japanese machine tool manufacturers asked them to place their products there.
In recent years, however, the globalization of the market and the expansion of Japanese manufacturers into Thailand have accelerated. Along with this, the number of exhibiting companies from both inside and outside Thailand has increased, and the current system was established. This is the result of the efforts and cooperation of Japanese companies. I never imagined that METALEX would grow this much.
Since the beginning of the exhibition, we have considered that "local companies will also become the center of the main customers". The key is automation. However, it is not only companies with financial strength and physical strength, such as companies in the Japanese market. Therefore, we have earned the trust of the market by repeating the polite proposal type sales on a single machine with the minimum necessary functions.
The CNC 1 Spindle 1 Turret Precision Lathe GSL series “GSL-10H” exhibited this time is one example. What are the real needs of the customers, and how much of a burden can they bear to decide on introducing such a machine tool? The last thing we need to do is to conduct sales activities sufficiently flexible from the customers’ point of view.
Due to the downturn in car production, the current Thai economy has continued with the state of stepping.
However, this does not mean that you can try to do something unusual. You should not just leave your core business. Because of these times, we must sit down firmly and concentrate on consultation with our customers on their problems.
In order not to forget the basics, our Thai corporation invites our business partners to hold a private show every year. In one corner of the venue, I set up a corner where I bake fried noodles to serve our customers. Thanks to this, we can see customers who say that they came “in order to eat the fried noodles of Mr. Naskanishi”.
Fried noodles made on a hot iron plate are exceptional. Every year, whenever you go, there is a fried noodle shop there. That kind of continuity is important for human relationships and work.
