TOMAS ENGINEERING (THAILAND) Co., Ltd. (hereafter TOMAS) is a tent manufacturer that provides tent products and uniflow door products to the manufacturing industry in Thailand. The company continues to grow with its flagship product "TOMAS FLEX TENT" and Uniflow sheet shutters. In this article, we will introduce a case study of implementing tent warehouse and sheet shutter at SIAM FUJI WARE (1988) CO., LTD. (hereafter SIAM FUJI WARE), a Thai company that is the main production facility of "FUJIHORO," Japan's top brand in enamel products.
Siam Fuji Wear was established in Thailand in 1988 as the main factory of the FUJIHORO group, which manufactures products of Fuji Porcelain Enamel, the top brand of enamel products. It has the production capacity of over 3,000 sets of pots and 10,000 sets of bowls/cups per day, making it the largest production volume among Japanese manufacturers.
The company, which mainly produces kitchenware, places the utmost importance on product quality control. However, prior to the implementation of the tent warehouse and sheet shutter, the following challenges were causing concern.
Tent warehouse and sheet shutter were installed to the factory in 2013. As a result, the company is feeling the effects of successfully resolving the above issues.
・Product defect rate is significantly reduced
By adding sheet shutter to opening that was open during the day, the temperature and humidity in the factory can now be kept constant, resulting in a dramatic reduction in product defects. In order to further improve the environment, the shutter is used only when forklifts are passing through, and the number of times it is opened and closed is kept to a minimum.
・Contributes to maintaining product quality
It is now possible to prevent the contamination of foreign substances such as pests, dirt, and dust that can easily occur in Thailand.
・High quality & high durability
Since its installation, not a single failure has occurred. Japan Quality and periodic inspections have enabled for this factory to achieve a high durability of 10 years.
・Inexpensive and quick delivery
The cost of tent warehouses is about 1/4 of constructing a building, and can be installed in as little as 60 days from order placement, since there is no need to apply for building status or pile driving work.
・High functionality
Basically maintenance-free. While blocking UV rays, the tent features high light transparency and brightness inside. If necessary, a roll-up curtain can be used to keep out moisture and rain/wind from the sides.
“Fuji Porcelain Enamel in Japan has been in business with Taiyo Kogyo for more than 30 years and has installed four tent warehouses at its Tsukuba factory. We have been able to improve work efficiency by making good use of the automated warehouses and tent warehouses in picking and shipping products. At our Thai factory, the tent warehouse is a useful tool for connecting the roofs between buildings and making effective use of the site. High-speed sheet shutter is an equipment that the factory in Japan does not have, but it is essential in Thailand, which is hot and humid and has many insects. Both are extremely useful in maintaining the quality of our products. There is a possibility of expanding the factory in the future, and we would like to continue to rely on the help of Thomas Engineering so that we can maintain an optimal environment for product manufacturing.” (President Kanehira of Fuji Porcelain Enamel)
