Monde Nissin is a leading confectionery and instant noodle manufacturer in the Philippines. The company boasts the top market share in the Philippines for instant noodles and cookies.

The company expanded its production base to Thailand in 2004 and built a plant in Chonburi Province. Although this was the company's first overseas production base, it has grown to become one of Thailand's leading cookie manufacturers. Confectionery products such as cookies and crackers are particularly popular in Thailand.

The company utilizes UPR's rental service for pallets and racks for moving and storing goods. We interviewed Mr. Nathi, Logistics & Warehouse Supervisor at Monde Nissin (Thailand), about how the service was introduced and how it is used.

Monde Nissin, a food manufacturer, puts a lot of effort into hygiene management of equipment used on production lines. For this reason, the company selects pallets for moving products used on the production line with strict screening.

Prior to the implementation of UPR's rental pallets, the following problems had arisen
・ Pallets were fragile, increasing the possibility of foreign material contamination and causing concerns about sanitation control.
・When operating on purchased own pallets only, fluctuations in production volume causes a shortage of pallets.
・Wooden pallets tend to get dirty when used to move products.

In addition to pallets, the company also rents nesting racks (U-Racks) for storing and packing products. With the implementation of U-Rack, it is possible to stack and store products that were difficult with pallet racks, making effective use of space. The lack of space in the plant due to fluctuations in production volume has been resolved.

Pallet rental that can be used only as much as we need according to demand

"The production volume of our products is fluid in accordance with demand. For this reason, we utilize UPR's rental service during periods when production volume increases, such as at the end of the year and during events. In the plant, it is necessary to store and manage each of the food ingredients, packing materials, and finished products, we use two types of pallets: red pallets for food ingredients and finished products, and blue pallets for packing. We have never had a shortage of pallets or racks because the company flexibly provides us with the required number of pallets and racks regardless of the production volume. It takes about a week to receive them after we request, but considering the time it takes to prepare storage space in the factory, we feel that this is just the right amount of time,” says Mr. Natee of Monde Nisshin.

It has been over a year since they started to utilize UPR's pallet and rack rental service, and they feel the following advantages in terms of product quality and support services.

■Product quality
While many pallets from other companies were fragile, UPR's rental pallets are sturdy, durable, high quality, and easy to clean. Since the U-Rack is sturdy and can stack products, making effective use of the space in factories and warehouses, which greatly solves the problems faced by food production plants.

■After-sales service
They are quick to respond to questions and provide excellent support. They also provide users with useful advice. For example, if the size of the rack requested is deemed unsuitable for the site (factory), the company will suggest another type of rack for delivery. Users can also choose whether to pick up and return the racks themselves or have them delivered to the factory, depending on their requirements.

"Currently, we use two types of pallets, red and blue, but in order to improve hygiene management quality, we are thinking of renting green pallets on the production line in the future. We are also planning to expand our warehouse at the plant. We will continue to use UPR's rental service because of its high quality and support system," says Mr. Natee of Monde Nisshin.
