Here is a demonstration of pick-and-place inspection for resin-molded products (a plastic cap in this case).
In this demonstration, a robot picks up plastic parts (PET bottle caps) moving on a conveyor and performs a comprehensive inspection, including the inner shape, to quickly detect scratches, burrs, shorts (defects).
▲ Example of inspection result
■ Camera #1: A camera positioned above finds the product location and simultaneously checks for foreign particles or defects on the upper surface of the cap. The robot then moves the product to the next stage.
■ Camera #2: At the next stage, a special lens from positioned below checks the inner wall (inner side) of the cap.
■ Camera #3: Simultaneously with Camera #2, a side camera captures six images while rotating the cap 60 degrees each time, inspecting the entire 360-degree surface.
This demonstration inspects plastic products, but similar solutions can also be proposed for small parts made of metal, silicon, or rubber.
The selection of robots, among other factors, may also vary depending on the desired cycle time.
ViSCO will propose the optimal inspection method based on the customer's requirements and facility environment.
