We have devoted ourselves to imagin for 15 years. “ViSCO Technologies Corporation” is an expert group selling image inspection machines, with the ability to judge appearance abnormalities instantly in the inspection process of electronic parts, precision parts and semiconductor products for cars and smart phones. The company was set up in Tokyo in 2003. We entered the Thai market, which is a center of the manufacturing industry, in November 2011. It was just in the middle of all the confusion caused by an unprecedented heavy flood. We have been improving our results smoothly thanks to the reconstruction demand and automation and labor savings.

We have always been pursuing an ideal way of such a total solution.
There is nothing better than human sight for the appearance inspection of electronic parts, semiconductor products, etc. There are various forms of defects (abnormality). The good products which are allowed to be delivered also vary widely and a high experience value is required to judge one by one as “Good”. Furthermore, the perception judgment of how we capture the inspection objects to see well is also a human’s ability, so visual inspection will not be successful if either thing is lacking.
However, it is a difficult situation to always keep gathering skilled workers who have such a high skill because of wage increases and a shortage of workers. Moreover, it is also a difficult point that the inspection result will be different depending on the inspectors. If so, we thought it should be automated, and our technicians tackled the most difficult problem we ever had and overcame it successfully. Our high-accuracy inspection algorithm, which can think and judge like humans, an optical solution which supports it, and also a high-performance image tool which can analyze the image we got in high resolution. We are providing a high-quality service which has these things.
Let me introduce 2 things specifically. Firstly, a “Super-depth camera” enables a solid image inspection that overturned the common knowledge of appearance inspection. When we inspect the products with a steric structure, the most difficult thing is to become out of focus. It is natural that the front part and inner part of solid objects look different and the information obtained is also different. Furthermore the original camera takes a photo from the front of objects, so there will be some parts which cannot be seen.
The super-depth camera, for which we have acquired the patent, solved this problem. The most important feature is imaging from a slant. And it has its own structure that can be focused on the entire surface. This allowed us to easily see the dents and projections that were difficult to see in the imaging from the front and allowed the machine to detect the defects which could not be seen before. It made the composition easier without interfering with other transfer equipment, and it can image 3 sides at the same time simultaneously. Only our company can provide this technique.
Another thing is the advanced inspection method “DefFinder”, which utilizes statistics. Normally industrial products have a slight difference depending on the environment and material, so we cannot keep producing the exact same thing. In addition the results might vary depending on the inspectors. Even though it is a good product, there is a small difference in some parts and there is no exact same thing. However, what happens if the machine judged it a “defect” every time? Our original inspection method will not allow this to happen.
The procedure is as follows. We store (register) the data of a good product that includes the size and brightness which are slightly different in the image inspection machine in advance, using a statistics method. The image inspection machine inspects based on it and judges by reducing the effect for the shape and density variance. On the other hand, it will not lower the threshold of acceptance or rejection easily. This enables the machine to distinguish good or not good correctly and prevents the distribution of defective products to the market.
The demand for precision parts and equipment will increase more and more in the future against a backdrop of penetration of next-generation vehicles and the computerization of industry. Not only will the production in Thailand be more active, but also in the whole ASEAN as South Asia is becoming localized. The potential demand is still left. We think like that.
