▲ "FINEMAG UK", the flagship model of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech's magnetic separator In July 2021, the FINEMAG series received the "Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturers Association Chairman's Award at the 47th Excellent Environmental Equipment Awards.
We have had a long-standing relationship with Yamada Machine Tool (Thailand) (hereinafter referred to as YMTT) since 2012, when Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech started its sales activities in Thailand. As a trustworthy partner of our company, YMTT has provided us with a great deal of cooperation in product sales expansion and after-sales service. Now, we are pleased to announce that YMTT has become the exclusive agent of our magnetic separator, FINE MAG , and we will focus on that so we can further expand sales in Thailand.
In Japan, FINEMAG is known as the "Green Magnetic Separator" and is used at many manufacturing sites, but despite its high performance as proven by the fact that it has the No. 1 market share in Japan, because of its high price, local companies in Thailand did not pay much attention to FINEMAG for a long time. However, since about three years ago, we have been receiving an increasing number of inquiries about FINEMAG from local factories in Thailand.
When we looked into the background on those inquiries, we came to the conclusion that this was largely due to the fact that people working in manufacturing at sites who had experienced "frequent quality problems caused by coolant deterioration in the midst of a shortage of maintenance staff" began to realize that FINEMAG's "high sludge removal capacity, squeezing performance, and durability" were more attractive regardless of its cost.
Manufacturing sites can be changed by the introduction of magnetic separators
▲Sludge in dry and smooth state
The sludge collection system that comes with the machine tool when it is purchased tends to be decided by prioritizing price over performance, because the priority is to reduce the cost of the equipment, unless otherwise specified. On the other hand, the machining environment in Thailand is much harsher than that in Japan, so it is common to see coolant accumulating in the sludge receptacle or sludge not being discharged properly shortly after use. Moreover, since there is no agency in Thailand to perform maintenance and repairs on it, the basic rule is to “replace it when it goes out of order”. However, because of the harsh environment, once they use FINEMAG, they are amazed at the difference in performance in all evaluation points such as resistance to breakage, removal rate and stability, and sludge state.
Comment by Haruhisa Yamada, YMTT
"Sludge covered with coolant is usually quite muddy. It is quite a burden for the maintenance staff in Thailand to collect coolant fluid and clean the tanks frequently when they are short of manpower. However, with FINEMAG, the sludge is efficiently mended and stably discharged in a smooth state instead of muddy, and problems over a long period of time are very few. Therefore, it can greatly contribute to improving the yield rate at the machining site and reducing the burden of maintenance work.

“YMTT always carries over 40 consumables spare parts in stock for use with magnetic separators. Replacement of general consumables, etc., can be done right away. Our great advantage is that we can deliver replacement parts immediately. Although the FINEMAG boasts high durability, by providing a local inventory of consumable parts and prompt service support, YMTT hopes to provide all users of magnet separators with unprecedented "joy" and “peace of mind”. Further, if you are thinking of replacing your current magnetic separator or upgrading your coolant tank, we can replace it with a FINEMAG or manufacture a coolant tank for you, so please let us know. "
In Thailand, there are many customers who do not know that Sumitomo Heavy Industries Finetech is not only selling magnetic separators but also capable of providing after-sales service. We believe that if the awareness of the "Green Magnetic Separator", which accounts for more than 40% of the industry share in Japan, rises, we can expand our market share in Thailand as well. We hope that Yamada Machine Tool, with whom we have been working for 10 years, will be able to penetrate the market with the FINEMAG brand and enhance its service.
