Sugino Machine (Thailand) focuses on development in the fields of high-pressure water technology, pneumatic technology, and pipe machinery technology to provide automated equipment for efficient material cutting and deburring. This article introduces the features of the “BARRIQUAN BRQ-EL01 (hereinafter referred to as BRQ-EL01)”, a tilting spindle motor unit that addresses various challenges associated with deburring through floating machining.
Efficiently Remove Parting Lines with Unique Floating Machining Technology
The “BRQ-EL01” is an automated deburring solution utilizing robots, making it ideal for machining cast parts. It is particularly suitable for removing burrs from parting lines (jointed surfaces) of aluminum and iron castings, promoting automation, labor-saving, and efficiency in the workplace. In many foundry sites in Thailand, manual deburring remains common. However, this method depends on the skills of the operators, which can lead to quality variability. By introducing the “BRQ-EL01,” uniform deburring can be achieved, eliminating the instability in quality caused by changes in operators.
The video below provides a detailed explanation of the tilting floating machining.

■ High-Speed and Stable Deburring with Tilting Floating Mechanism
The 360° tilting floating mechanism allows the cutting tool to move along the shape of the workpiece while maintaining a constant load. This design generates strong centripetal force at the axis center, ensuring that the tool remains in contact with the surface, even when working on complex shapes characterized by numerous curves, which are common in cast parts. As a result, high-speed deburring is achieved. Furthermore, the tilting floating mechanism adapts to the workpiece's shape, accommodating variations in dimensional size without the need for program adjustments. This capability ensures stable quality while preventing excessive material removal or leftover burrs.

■ Air Floating Type for Easy and Optimal Blade Pressing Force
The pressing force of the blade can be easily adjusted by regulating the supplied air pressure. This allows for customizable shaving based on the size and material of the burr. The machine reliably removes various types of burrs without excessive shaving of the base material, all with a single unit.
▲ Challenges in automating deburring: Leftover burrs, over-processing of workpieces, and difficulty in programming
▲ Floating force is adjustable with compressed air ranging from 0.05 to 0.2 MPa, ensuring effective burr removal without excessive over-processing of the base material
■ Equipped with a Dedicated Spindle Motor for Intermittent Machining
The unit features a specialized motor designed to withstand intermittent processing loads from the radial direction, making it suitable for demanding environments. Engineered to endure high loads over extended periods, this motor is highly durable and offers a long service life.
▲ Deburring motor with a maximum speed of 20,000 min⁻¹
■ High-quality deburring with a dedicated tilting floating blade
To maximize the effectiveness of the tilting floating mechanism, multiple specialized blades are available. The most suitable blade can be selected and recommended based on the shape of the burr and the workpiece.
